Mangaluru, Karnataka / Malappuram, Kerala: Systematic reviews have become an important research methodology in modern healthcare, helping researchers organize and evaluate evidence from multiple studies. For Farseen Mohammed P, systematic review research has emerged as a significant part of his professional development as a physiotherapist and clinical researcher.

With postgraduate specialization in neurosciences, clinical exposure in neurorehabilitation and training in evidence synthesis, Farseen has developed research interests spanning stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease, therapeutic exercise and broader rehabilitation sciences.

Developing an Interest in Evidence Synthesis

Farseen’s research journey began alongside his postgraduate education in physiotherapy.

After completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy, he pursued a Master of Physiotherapy in Neurosciences at Yenepoya Physiotherapy College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.

His postgraduate education included clinical and academic work in neurophysiotherapy and neurorehabilitation.

Over time, his research interests expanded from individual clinical questions toward systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.

Systematic Review on Stroke Rehabilitation

One of Farseen’s ongoing research projects examines the effectiveness of eccentric strengthening interventions on functional outcomes in adults after stroke.

The subject connects directly with his postgraduate research on strengthening and functional mobility in subacute stroke patients.

His dissertation was titled:

“Effect of Eccentric Versus Concentric Strengthening on Functional Mobility in Subacute Stroke Patients: A Randomized Parallel-Group Comparative Study.”

The systematic review represents a broader research approach to the same general area, examining available evidence across relevant studies rather than focusing on a single clinical investigation.

Presentation at SYNERGOS 2026

Farseen presented a systematic review titled “Effectiveness of Eccentric Strengthening Interventions in Stroke Rehabilitation: A Systematic Review” at SYNERGOS 2026.

His presentation received the First Prize in the Postgraduate Oral Paper Presentation category.

The achievement marked an important milestone in his development as a research presenter and demonstrated his growing engagement with evidence-synthesis research.

Research in Parkinson’s Disease

Systematic and scoping review methodologies have also contributed to Farseen’s research work in Parkinson’s disease.

He contributed to the published scoping review:

“Timing of Dopaminergic Medication Relative to Physiotherapy Delivery in Adults with Parkinson’s Disease: A Scoping Review.”

The paper was published in the International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology in 2026.

Farseen is listed as the second author and corresponding author.

Although the study is a scoping review rather than a systematic review, it reflects his broader involvement in evidence synthesis and literature-based research.

Training in Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Farseen has pursued dedicated training to strengthen his research methodology skills.

In August 2026, he participated in a five-day hands-on international-level workshop on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis conducted by IIRA, Mumbai.

Such training provides researchers with methodological knowledge relevant to searching scientific literature, evaluating studies, organizing evidence and synthesizing findings.

The training complements Farseen’s ongoing research projects involving systematic and scoping reviews.

Beyond Neurological Rehabilitation

While stroke and Parkinson’s disease are prominent areas within Farseen’s research profile, his systematic review interests extend to other health conditions.

His ongoing research interests include a systematic review examining the effects of exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation on cardiovascular autonomic function and cerebral outcomes in adults with heart failure and stable coronary artery disease.

Another research project explores the effects of exercise interventions on hepatic, metabolic, functional and muscle-strength outcomes in adults with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.

These projects demonstrate an expanding interest in exercise and rehabilitation research across different clinical populations.

Evidence-Based Physiotherapy

Systematic review research is closely connected to Farseen’s broader interest in evidence-based physiotherapy.

Evidence-based practice seeks to integrate research evidence with clinical expertise and patient considerations.

By participating in systematic reviews and scoping reviews, Farseen has developed an academic pathway focused on examining rehabilitation questions through structured research methods.

His professional interests include evidence-based physiotherapy, clinical intervention research and evidence synthesis.

Connecting Clinical Questions With Research

Many rehabilitation research questions originate from clinical practice.

Farseen’s clinical training at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital exposed him to neurological rehabilitation involving stroke, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, Guillain–Barré syndrome and spinal cord disorders.

This clinical background provides context for his research interests.

His work on strengthening after stroke, for example, connects a practical rehabilitation question with both clinical intervention research and subsequent evidence synthesis.

Scientific Communication

Systematic reviews also form part of Farseen’s scientific presentation experience.

His presentation at SYNERGOS 2026 demonstrated his ability to communicate a structured review of research evidence to a professional audience.

He has also presented his postgraduate clinical research at Mangalore PhysioCon 2026, where he discussed eccentric versus concentric strengthening and functional mobility in subacute stroke patients.

Together, these activities have contributed to his development as a scientific communicator.

Continued Research Development

Farseen’s interest in systematic review research is supported by continuing professional education.

In addition to his research-methodology training, he has completed professional education in Good Clinical Practice and health science research and publication.

His continuing education reflects an effort to develop both clinical and research competencies throughout his professional career.

A Growing Evidence-Synthesis Portfolio

Farseen Mohammed P’s research profile increasingly includes evidence synthesis as an important component.

His work spans systematic reviews, scoping reviews and clinical intervention research, with research interests covering neurological rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, cardiovascular rehabilitation and metabolic health.

This growing portfolio reflects an interdisciplinary approach to physiotherapy research.

Looking Toward Evidence-Informed Rehabilitation

Modern rehabilitation continues to place increasing emphasis on scientific evidence and careful evaluation of therapeutic approaches.

Farseen’s involvement in systematic review research reflects his interest in contributing to this evidence base.

From his postgraduate research in stroke rehabilitation to his published Parkinson’s disease scoping review and ongoing systematic reviews, he is developing a research profile that combines clinical physiotherapy knowledge with evidence-synthesis methodology.

His continuing education and research activities provide a foundation for further work in evidence-based rehabilitation and clinical research.
